Walking Each Other Home
A seventy-five-year young man passes me by
Grey on top, ponytail behind
Singing a song from an earlier time
Godspell’s tune now fills my mind
“Prepare ye the way of the Lord”1
What is this Way,
one might say.
A way of love, peace and nonviolence.
A way of compassion, mercy, and kindness.
I in you, and you in me.
The way of Jesus, is who I must be.
“Be not afraid,”
Put aside what I’ve planned.
Be love in the moment,
Feel mother Earth where you stand.
The practice of presence,
The surrender to flow,
Trusting in Love,
And just letting go.
Connected and present, no them – just Us
Broken and worn, yet never alone
“See how they love one another “
Walking each other home.
