Spiritual Practices for an Anxious World

With Rev. Miriam Diephouse McMillan, BCC

February 19 - 21, 2027

In a world that often leaves us breathless with worry, what if the path to peace begins with a single prayerful breath?

Faith has long provided grounding and solace in difficult times, and now modern science has also begun affirming this wisdom. Contemporary life confronts us with compounding stress and fear, while offering only superficial solutions. To truly cope with these daily anxieties, we need a deeper source of comfort and strength.

Throughout the weekend, follow the invitation to practice in guided Breath Prayer, Centering Prayer, Loving Kindness Prayer, and Daily Examen. Together, these help us to cultivate awareness of and respond to God, reach outward to build compassion & connections to shift our perspectives beyond ourselves, and experience contemplative worship, both communally & silently, to respond creatively to our increasing awareness of the sacred presence in our lives.

This retreat offers a weekend of rich spiritual practices rooted in Christian tradition and supported by mental health research.  Leave refreshed with tools to maintain mental, emotional, and spiritual balance in our anxious world.
