“…icons…are created for the sole purpose of offering access, through the gate of the visible, to the mystery of the invisible. An icon is like a window looking out upon eternity.”  Henri J. M. Nouwen

More than forty years of devotion to this land will reach a culmination point as we gather to dedicate the Genesis grounds as Providence Arboretum, a living icon. We will tell the stories of the trees – more than 400 species of woody plants and more than 160 memorial plantings – as we stroll the grounds and bathe in the Goodness of this Earth which God has formed. And in keeping with our tradition in which after forty days, or forty years, something new happens - from this moment in time, we will cast a vision for the next epoch of creation unfolding in this place, an icon for generations to come.

2:00 – 4:30pm   There is no cost for this event. Free-will offerings will support the care and maintenance of Providence Arboretum.  Please call 413-562-3627 to RSVP.

How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdom you made them all, the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious teeming with creatures beyond number- living things both large and small.
- Psalm 104:24-25
