The more deeply we grow in the psalms, and the more often we pray them as our own, the more simple and rich our prayer will become. – Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Spend the afternoon with the prayers that have been an open and authentic way of relating to God since ancient times. The Psalms, prayers Jesus would have known and prayed, are full of raw emotion, calm reflection, and deep wisdom. The Psalms can teach us how to pray and provide words when we are unable to express ourselves. These prayers allow us to come to God as we are and provide a way for God to speak to us.
We will examine the original texts, and experience them in music and in art. We will also see how they have been adapted in modern times. There will be input, time for reflection, and praying together.
