The divine dream – the potential to become the best that we can be – usually comes several sizes too large for us. The challenge is to grow into it. But growth is painful, and often slow. It is risky and requires a letting go of old enclosures.
A rich source of practical wisdom for this task can be found in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola. We will use some of the key meditations from these Exercises to help guide our journey through the week as we reflect on what our growth into the future will ask of us. These meditations will, however, be presented in ways that assume no previous knowledge of the Exercises.
Tomorrow is waiting. What future will we bequeath to our grandchildren? Does our `one precious life’ really matter? How will we spend it? Bring an open mind and an open heart to this week’s journey, as we invite the Holy Spirit to guide us more deeply into her ways.
